Articles are words that identify a noun as being specific or unspecific. In English there are three articles: a, an, and the.

The indefinite article (a, an) is used before a noun that is general or when its identity is not known.

‘a’ is used before a singular noun beginning with a consonant sound.

‘an’ is used before a singular noun beginning with a vowel sound.

Activity 

1.   Circle ‘a’ or ‘an’ in the given statements.


 2.   Fill in the blanks with ‘a’ or ‘an’.

 

Extra Task:

1. Write some nouns (at least 20) with the indefinite articles (‘a’ and ‘an’) (for example ‘A Ball’) that you know by yourself or by referring any book in English. You shall do it with the help of someone if needed.
