L1_S11_ Verb (Action words)

Verbs are words that show an action, occurrence, or state of being. Almost every sentence requires a verb. Verbs can be expressed in different tenses, depending on when the action is being performed.

Sometimes, a verb is simply called an ‘Action word’.

Examples

Verbs that indicate action- Bring, Change, Eat

Verbs that indicate occurrence- Happen, Become, Occur

Verbs that indicate the state of being- Be, Am, Were



Activity

1.    Circle the verb that describes the picture and write the same in the blank space provided.

 

2.    Fill in the blank with the correct verb.

Extra Task:

Write some new words that are verbs (at least 20), which is not mentioned in this worksheet. You may write the words that you already know or you may also refer to any book in English and write that.

L1_S30_Tenses Tenses are the time of action words, which are Verbs. Verbs could be in three tenses: past, present, and future. The past is used to describe things that have already happened (e.g., earlier in the day, yesterday, last week, three years ago). Usually ‘ed’ will be added the verb at the end, some verbs change their form, and some verbs remain the same (walked, wrote, cut). The present tense is used to describe things that are happening right now, or things that are continuous.
